Call To Worship Liturgist

Leader: O gracious God, we pray for your holy Church universal, that you would be pleased to fill it with all truth, in all peace. Where it is corrupt, All: purify it;

Leader: where it is in error, All: direct it;

Leader: where in any thing it is amiss, All: reform it;

Leader: where it is right, All: establish it;

Leader: where it is in want, All: provide for it;

Leader: where it is divided, All: reunite it;

Leader: for the sake of him who died and rose again, and ever lives to make intercession for us,

Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith Liturgist

All: We are Children of God. We have been water-washed and Spirit-filled. We’re dead to sin and alive in Christ. We’re done with law, and live under grace. Our hearts are set on righteousness. Our minds are fixed on life and peace. Suffering is nothing, compared to the glory to come. For we’re heirs to the life Christ is bringing! We are children of God!

ALL: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Prayer Rev. George Waren

All: God of justice and mercy: The temptation is strong to make our gifts to you on Sunday feel as if we’ve done all that is expected, then wake up on Monday and live like all the rest of the world. Deep in our souls, we know that’s not what Christ called us to do, but the safe road is so much easier. God of compassion, embolden us to be involved in some “good trouble.” Embolden us to stand out against the backdrop of a world that says, “take care of your own.” Embolden us to use our voices to speak on behalf of the voiceless, to use our ears to hear the discouraged and defeated, and to use our arms to help the weak and powerless. In the name of the one who conquered death. Amen.

Passing the Baton

In a few short weeks we will be saying “God Speed to one pastor and “welcome” to another.

As most of you know Pastor Matt Franks will be moving to Colorado to the Big Sky Conference. Matt’s last Sunday to deliver sermon to us will be on June 5th. We will have a reception for him and his family in the atrium after church. The cost of moving is always expensive and the conference will only cover part of the cost. IF you would like to help Matt and his family with the cost you may make a donation by placing something in a card or you may give directly to the church; earmarking it for pastor Franks moving fund. There will be a basket for cards/donations at the reception.

On June 26th Reverend Shana dry will deliver her first sermon as our senior pastor. We are very excited and blessed that the Bishop and cabinet selected Shana for Tahlequah First United Methodist Church as her first full time appointment. There will be a reception for Shana and family after service on that Sunday. I know that she will need some help with moving and also some meals prepared for the following weeks as she accepts the “baton” as our spiritual leader.

If you could bake/purchase cookies for either or both of these events; please contact Sueann Freeman. Her number is (918)931-2587 or you can let her know after any service on Sundays. She is asking for 3-4 dozen cookies from each volunteer. If we have any cookies left over we will use them at Feed My Sheep.
