Matthew D. Franks
Hello my name is Matthew Franks (you can call me Matt) I grew up in Miami, Oklahoma. I would leave Miami to attend Oklahoma City University. I would earn my Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma City University in 2005. While at OCU I discovered my call to ministry. I did not grow up in a home that attended church much. I thought I was going to play second base for the St. Louis Cardinals as a child and as a youth thought I would be a Band Director. At OCU I heard my call to ordained ministry. This changed my life course. After I finished at OCU, I went to work on my Masters of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary. At PTS I had my calling affirmed and confirmed. I was ordained an Elder in the Oklahoma Annual Conference in May 2013.
Before coming to Tahlequah FUMC in June of 2017, I served as Lead Pastor at FUMC Locust Grove for 3 years. Then I served as an Associate at McFarlin UMC in Norman where I over saw Young Adult Ministries, Missions and Outreach for one year. My first appointment I served as Lead Pastor at Calumet UMC and Red Rock UMC for four years. I have also served as an adjunct Professor of Theology & Ethics at Mid-America Christian University in their CAGS Program for 5 years. My first ministry job was Director of Youth Ministries at Yukon First United Methodist Church. I have enjoyed the journey that the Holy Spirit has guided me on.
In my spare time you will find me working on my Podcast BeardedTheologians, playing softball or golf, hanging out with my family and friends. I hope you join us at Tahlequah FUMC we have a lot to offer and we are striving to be the Church God is calling us to be. You can reach me at Email Me!
